Data Engineer:

  • Iterative. Excited to prototype at all levels of fidelity to help build a data organization
  • Collaborative. They have the ability and enthusiasm to work across multiple areas of business.
  • Experienced with data engineering practices and how to leverage cloud services to build data products at scale.
  • Agile mindset and experience, able to build and engineer solutions to meet business needs and understand importance of business value.

You’re Good At

  • Using SQL and Python to build data solutions at scale
  • Creating enterprise software and advanced analytics solutions
  • Implementing data orchestration pipelines, data sourcing, cleansing, and augmentation and quality control processes
  • Data Modeling and data warehousing techniques (e.g., star schemas, snowflake, database normalization)
  • Mentoring data engineers to further their personal and professional growth
  • Developing team’s talent by providing direction and facilitating technical architectural discussions
  • Translating business needs into data-oriented solutions
  • Contribution to overall solution, integration, and enterprise architectures
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and implement them to meet business needs

You Bring (Nice To Have)

  • 5+ years of experience building large scale data solutions
  • BS/BA in data engineering, software engineering, data science, computer science, applied mathematics, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years professional development experience with some of the AWS/Azure/GCP stack:
  • Databricks
  • PySpark
  • Azure Synapse or Data Factory
  • Redshift
  • AWS glue
  • S3
  • GCP BigQuery
  • Subject matter expert in at least one area related to data management
  • A Big Data technology
  • A deep knowledge of performant SQL and understanding of relational database technology
  • Hands-on RDBMS experience (data modeling, analysis, programming, stored procedures)
  • Scala
  • Deployment of data pipelines in the Cloud using AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • A deep understanding of relational and warehousing database technology
  • DevOps and DatOps skills including “infrastructure as code” systems like CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Data system performance tuning
