1. Robust Tech Job Postings in 2020

Job postings in the tech industry experienced an increase during the first three months of 2020 and continued to stay robust into April and May. Several companies are starting to realize they need to have an online business model to compete in the future. 2. 112,000 IT Jobs in the United States Were Lost in April

The beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 led to the loss of 20.5 million US jobs in April. Out of that figure, 112,000 were related to the IT sector, which experienced a record drop, according to data from CompTIA. Data from the Dice report also indicated a drop in demand for web developers by 25 percent during the February and March period. In addition, graphic designers experienced a 17 percent drop in job listings during the same period. 7. Drop in Demand for Other Developer Jobs

A drop in other developer job titles was also recorded by the Dice report about when the pandemic was announced in the February to March timeframe. Software developers experienced an eight percent decline in job listings, senior software developer job listings fell 11 percent and business intelligence analysts had the highest drop at 13 percent.

8. Some Sectors Experienced an Increase in Developer Job Postings

The news wasn’t all bad for developer job postings as some job titles received an increase in demand. Systems engineers saw a rise of 11 percent and .NET developer job listings increased by 12 percent. While this is good news for individuals in these specific niches, other areas in IT may be slowly phased out as the requirement for their skills are bundled into different positions. These jobs include quality assurance engineers, project managers, system administrators, and front end and back-end engineers.
